In modern society, email has become an essential tool for daily communication, and Gmail is a leader in this field. However, as the number of emails increases, many users find it increasingly difficult to manage their inboxes. To address this pain point, a new personal productivity application called Ocean has been launched. Ocean not only integrates seamlessly with Gmail but also offers practical features such as email categorization, task management, and meeting scheduling, aiming to help users handle emails more efficiently.

Ocean was designed based on the needs of email management. The application was created by the BigWave Labs team in 2019. Co-founders Martin Dufort and Scott Lake hoped to improve the email experience through this app. Ocean can seamlessly connect with Gmail and Google Workspace accounts, allowing users to convert emails into tasks, ensuring important information is never forgotten. Users can create tasks directly within the app, set deadlines, classify tasks, and link relevant emails to task notes.

For users who want to keep their inbox clean, Ocean's categorization tools are a major highlight. This tool can filter emails based on the type of sender (such as first-time senders, ongoing senders, and contacts), and it can also identify emails that were incorrectly marked as spam, ensuring users do not miss any important information. In addition, Ocean provides basic email management features such as composing, replying to, marking, archiving, and deleting emails.

In terms of meeting scheduling, Ocean also shows its unique advantages. Users can use the built-in meeting scheduling tool to set their available time and automatically send meeting invitations. This feature helps users better manage their time and avoid last-minute meeting conflicts. Confirmed meetings will be automatically added to the user's calendar, greatly simplifying schedule management.

Currently, the iPhone version of Ocean is already available, while the Mac version is in development and is expected to be released by the end of the year. The team also plans to generate revenue through a membership model called Ocean Blue, which will offer premium services such as annual feature updates and AI email summaries. Interested users can choose a 14-day free trial, but the trial will not automatically convert to a paid membership after it ends.
