Figma recently announced that its innovative instant application programming tool Figma Make is now officially available to all users. The launch of this tool marks a significant step for Figma in the AI-assisted design field, aiming to allow users to build work prototypes and applications through natural language descriptions without requiring professional programming skills, similar to AI programming tools like Google's Gemini Code Assist and Microsoft's GitHub Copilot.

Widespread Features with Subscription Restrictions

Figma Make was initially released as a beta version for "Full Seat" subscribers, but it is now available to all Figma users. However, users on different subscription plans will face corresponding restrictions when using Figma Make. Currently, designs created using Figma Make can only be published by users with "Full Seat" access. Users on "View," "Collab," "Dev," and free "Starter Seat" plans can try Figma Make in their personal drafts, but to use these creations in practical applications, they need to upgrade to the "Full Seat" subscription level. This means that all users can experience the demo version of Figma Make, but deep usage still requires payment.

Unique Advantages of Design References and AI Editing

A significant advantage of Figma Make over similar application builder programming tools is its ability to add design references. Users can upload images or existing Figma designs into the tool and provide a natural language description of what they want to create (for example, "animated music player"), thereby more accurately guiding the AI to generate the desired design. Additionally, users can adjust individual elements such as text formatting and font styles through AI prompts or manual editing, achieving precise control.

The AI Function Ecosystem Continues to Improve

The end of the testing phase for Figma Make coincides with the maturation of other AI features within Figma. These include:

  • Image creation and editing tools: Using generative AI, users can create or process images based on text descriptions.

  • Resolution enhancement feature: It can effectively improve the clarity of low-quality images.

New AI Credit System Launched

To better manage and allocate the use of AI tools, Figma has also launched a brand-new AI credit system. This system will assign a certain number of credits based on the user's paid membership level, which can be used to redeem AI tools on the platform. Users on "View," "Collab," and "Dev Seat" plans will have lower credit limits, and these limits may change over time. Currently, "Full Seat" users enjoy unlimited access to AI tools.
