TikTok recently announced the launch of three groundbreaking AI-powered video creation tools designed to streamline the process of producing brand advertising content, making it easier to share on the platform. These new features will be integrated into TikTok's Symphony Creative Studio and will roll out to advertisers globally in the coming weeks.

The highlights of this update include:

  • "Image to Video" feature: Brands can now easily transform static images (such as product photos) into dynamic five-second video clips. Advertisers simply upload the image and add a brief text prompt to receive multiple AI-generated video options that can be used individually or combined for longer ads, opening up endless possibilities for visual marketing.
  • "Text to Video" feature: This innovative tool allows advertisers to create videos solely from text without the need for any images or pre-set templates. TikTok states that this function will significantly help advertisers quickly test and refine their ad campaign ideas before full production, greatly enhancing efficiency.

  • "Showcase Products" feature: This tool seamlessly combines product images with digital avatars to create more immersive ad experiences. Advertisers can design avatars holding products, trying on clothing, or showcasing apps on smartphones, resulting in more dynamic and user-generated content (UGC)-style ads.

To further amplify its impact, TikTok is partnering with industry leaders. The "Image to Video" feature will be directly integrated into Adobe's social media design platform, Adobe Express. Additionally, Symphony's capabilities will be incorporated into WPP's AI marketing suite, WPP Open, offering convenience to even more brands.

AI Labels and Strict Safety Checks

TikTok emphasizes that all videos created through Symphony will automatically be labeled as AI-generated content. As a member of industry organizations CAI and C2PA, TikTok has been committed to ensuring transparency and safety in content creation since May 2024. The company stated that every stage from uploading images, writing prompts, to generating final videos undergoes multiple safety checks to maintain the platform's authenticity and user experience. However, TikTok has not disclosed which specific AI models are used in Symphony.

As a product under ByteDance Limited, TikTok first introduced Symphony and AI avatars back in 2024. ByteDance’s research team has consistently been at the forefront of generative video AI development. Earlier this year, they released the Goku model series aimed at creating UGC content using real personas, which may support TikTok’s latest tools. Recently, ByteDance also showcased Seedance1.0, a video generation model directly competing with Google's Veo.
